The honey from the gifted oak tree has a very dark color, almost black with a mild but also characteristic aroma, it transports us to the semi-mountainous forests of the Peloponnese and Thessaly, where it was collected.

Its taste is rich and reminiscent of caramel while its sweetness is moderate as it does not contain many sugars like nectar honeys. In fact, raw acorn honey gradually raises blood sugar levels, although it should be used in smaller amounts by those with sugar sensitivity.

Oak honey, like genuine melitoma honey, crystallizes at a very slow rate and maintains its thick texture for a long period of time, and is found under various names such as ā€œblack honeyā€, ā€œtree honeyā€, ā€œhoneyā€ and ā€œoak honeyā€ and as a genuine melitoma honey, it crystallizes very slowly maintaining its thick texture for a long period of time.

Oak honey contains large amounts of potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron and sodium. It is rich in antioxidant properties while laboratory tests have recorded a high content of total phenols, it also has antimicrobial, disinfectant and astringent properties and is known to contribute to relaxation, significantly helping those who have difficulty sleeping.

In fact, in a 2015 study by AUTH, oak honey -compared to 47 other honeys from around the world- emerged as the honey with the strongest antioxidant activity, followed by fir, heather, chestnut and pine honey.

TASTE: Intense, rich caramel flavor, low sweetness.
